One week ago I started officially to take photos for my new project about Italians in Flanders. Actually, it will be my free work at Sint-Lucas school, so I have to finish before the end of May. Up to now I stayed in Ghent, I will move to Brussels and the Limburg aftewards. I don't have so much time, thus I can just make sketches (Schetsen in Dutch). My goal is to not stop to just sketches and to forward the next years, we will se in the next months. Although I started to photograph only in February, I am busy with this project since two months. Just previsualizing the shoots, and the layout of the opera. Technically speaking I opted for:
black and white,
using the Pentax 67, medium format,
the final work should be published in a book.
Speaking about Italians being an Italian seems easier, but actually it isn't and I am not going to do it now, I will, but in the next blogs, step by step, thought after thought.
Just let say one thing: Italians are everywhere and being in Begium since almost 100 years. There are Italians born in Belgium, Italians emigrated and whose children are born here and there, 100% Italians complaining about Belgians, Italians complaining about Italians and Italians complaining about everybody.
i know some Italians in Ghent, but the 1st photograph I took was of the theater director at LARF, Sandra Carota. I knew her by coincidence less than a month ago. Click here for a preliminary scanned version.
