This afternoon I uploaded a last portrait picture which I took in March during "La Fiera Italiana - Brugge Culinair 2013". It is a black&white picture of Michele, an exuberant Italian pizzaiolo - pizza maker - living in Belgium since years. He was a tireless storyteller: the Dutch love, the excitement of the past cyrcus life, the monotony of making pizza, etc. After talking with him and while seeing him performing as a seasoned actor with hat and suspenders, he reminded me Totò, the great Italian commedian, the "prince of laugther". Cheerful, natural commedian and stage man on the one hand, melancholic and wistful on the other hand. At a certain extent I could say the same of another pizza maker, Pino, photographed for my book "Italianen". Is there maybe a feature in common between commedians and pizza makers? I think they are very more similar than everybody would expect.
